Customizing a Picture Mat Tutorial

When we we're on our honeymoon in Kauai we did a "Trash The Dress" photo shoot. We jumped off Kipu Falls and have the most amazing photographs to document it.
I looked EVERYWHERE for a frame that held 4 vertical photos and finally found the perfect one for $2.
The only problem was the frame was black and the photo mat was white. Nothing a little spray paint and scrapbook paper couldn't fix!

To cover the mat I started by gluing brown scrapbook paper to the front. Since this mat was long I had to piece two pieces together.
From the backside, I cut each corner off to make the paper easy to fold over.
Of course, it helped to have Homie there!
Then fold over each outer edge and glue/tape to the back of the mat.

Now we have to finish off the inner pieces. I started by cutting a diagonal line from each corner.
Then cut the center out of each picture slot.
From the backside you can see the two pieces of paper, since there is somewhat of a pattern, it looks seamless from the front.
Fold each of the side back and glue/tape in place.
Here is it from the front:
 And in the frame:
Just took a little bit of work to make it exactly what I was looking for!
